28.01 /// 10:00 - 17:00
Studio Above&Below presents a workshop around the use of Bioacoustics and the importance of augmenting communication between other species when creating worlds, through finding support networks using tools including Games Engines and AI classification tools.
The workshop will be a one-day event, consisting of an artist talk, showcasing elements from the development of their EMAP residency project with iMAL and an introduction and knowledge sharing session to some of the tools and thinking produced within the residency research period (software & hardware includes: Touchdesigner, Unreal Engine, TensorFlow YAMNet model, recording devices).
The session aims to provoke new thinking about our interconnectivity with other ecosystems within cities, by challenging main-stream communication technologies which currently focus on human needs and machine intelligence (AI) solutions, rather than taking an ‘all planet approach’, which includes humans and non-humans. The workshop will give an introduction to Touchdesigner which can be used to create audio-visual experiences.
The workshop is open to all backgrounds and experiences.
