iPO 2025: LABOR-atorium results !

For our research residency in collaboration with LABoral, the jury has unanimously agreed to choose Alba Matilla's project 'Alphabets of Destruction’ : "an installation project in development that narrates the action of a small cloud that wanders through a ghost virtual world, made up
of industrial environments that have recently been demolished or are in the process of being destroyed".

iMAL's team pointed the project's link with Belgian context and its local actors. 'Alphabets of Destruction' maintains a critical and creative connection with technology and this residency appeared as a natural step in the artist's career.

The residency will take place in iMAL.

For our second research residency in collaboration with LABoral, the jury has unanimously agreed to choose Hannah Mevis's project and her proposal for «a performative and research-based exploration of lavaderos as spaces of feminist resistance and communal knowledge-sharing».

The jury – comprising iMAL and LABoral team members – highlighted that this project is anchored in the Asturian context and will provide an external view on heritage. In addition, the jury was interested on the potential of involving local activist communities.

The residency will place in LABoral (Gijón, SP).
