LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial (Gijón, ES) and iMAL are teaming up to offer the opportunity of artistic research residencies to their respective communities!

This call for applications is aimed at artists or collectives based in Wallonia and Brussels, who will be selected for a one-month residency at LABoral. A similar call is being launched in Spain for a project to be offered a residency at iMAL.

Our two organisations will of course share with the selected projects our various resources: infrastructure, equipment, networks and contacts, support, etc).

RESIDENCY PERIOD: mid-April to mid-May

What we seek

LABoral is interested in artistic research projects that explore how the field of labour has been affected by the force of the progressive automation of our society.

This ‘siliconisation’ of our lives is actively promoted by large technological corporations that consolidate these techno-liberal ideologies of progress with the result, in many cases, of worse working conditions and a decline in people's quality of life.

LABoral therefore wants to support research projects that question these mechanisms of alienation and propose alternative forms of resistance and cultural and artistic production in response to the automation of our society.
