Introduction
Most artists think computer programming is too difficult or simply uninteresting. This workshop is specifically designed for artists and designers to learn them the basics of programming while exposing them to the essence of computing for visual and electronic arts.
Casey Reas is a visual artist and a designer. He studied at the Aesthetics and Computation Group, MIT Media Lab (directed by John Maeda) and is currently associate professor at the Interaction Design Institute Ivrea (Italy). His pedagogical approach is particularly adapted to artists who want to grasp the essence of computer programming within the context of the electronic arts. Casey developed a specific easy to use programming language and environment for supporting his teaching : Proce55ing.
The workshop will introduce fundamental concepts of programming and participants will explore them as a means of creation through writing programs for images, movement and behavior.

Sunday 20 April 2003, 20h30 : public event
Casey Reas will talk about his work and the workshop results will be presented in a public session.
