Antoine Schmitt

Artist and programming engineer living in Paris, Antoine Schmitt (FR) creates installations, situations and objects, minimal and abstract, anchored in time and movement that addresses the modalities of the free being in a system of reality. In relation to the definitive and systemic contemporary world, he places programming at the core of his artworks to question the forces and shapes at stake.

His work has received numerous awards and exhibited in many international museums, institutions and festivals such as transmediale (Berlin), Vida 5.0 (Madrid), Ars Electronica (Linz), Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris) and Sonar (Barcelona).

Welcome to the Future! toont een historische selectie van cd-rom’s over of met kunst & cultuur en digitale kunstwerken op floppy disk, voornamelijk geproduceerd in de jaren 90. Deze born-digital kunst bevat vaak baanbrekende werken uit de nieuwe mediakunst en de digitale kunsten, met verschillende visies op en utopieën rond de snel evoluerende digitale toekomst.

Het MFF2010 afsluit event vindt plaats in Brussel (bij iMAL en in de publieke ruimte) tijdens het weekend van Nuit Blanche, van 1 tot 3 oktober. Op deze gelegenheid zullen de curatoren en kunstenaars samen komen in Brussel voor een laatste publieke conversatie ronde.

Voor Nuit Blanche, biedt MFF 2010 een uniek kijkaspect op de digitale kunstwerken die in de Brusselse openbare ruimte worden voorgesteld en over heel Europa verspreidt. Voor de tijd van één nacht trillen de Kanaalgebouwen mee op het ritme van de stad, dit terwijl publiciteitspanelen en -schermen zich omvormen tot virtuele beeldende kunstwerken. Een bijzondere wandeling doorheen het hart van de digitale stad!

 

MFF 2010: City Sleep Light

For the opening of MFF 2010 in Brussels, the building of iMAL will be transformed into a media facade. This DIY LED facade will be inaugurated with "City Sleep Light", a new creation by Antoine Schmitt. Facing the canal , it will be pulsating to the rhythm of Brussels, becoming the night-light of the city.

MEDIA FACADES FESTIVAL EUROPE 2010 (MFF 2010) is een digitaal kunstproject voor de stad. Het verbindt zeven Europese steden door middel van videoschermen en mediafaçaden verspreid in de publieke ruimte. Kunstenaars en mediadesigners stellen in het kader van het festival hun specifieke projecten in heel Europa voor. Projecties en aansluitende evenementen openen een ruimte voor dialoog, dromen en uitwisseling van ideeën.
